Role Summary

The School Social Worker serves as a specialized advocate who addresses the social, emotional, and environmental factors that affect student achievement. You will provide crisis intervention, facilitate support groups, and conduct home visits. This position is a one-year only contract that is contingent upon federal funding. The position is funded through federal resources allocated for the current school year, and continuation beyond this period is not guaranteed.

You’ll Succeed (Qualifications)
  • Educationally Prepared: Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) required.
  • Proven Experience: Demonstrated practicum or on-the-job experience in social services or counseling is required.
  • Community Strategist: Required experience partnering with community agencies and securing vital resources for families.
  • Safety Certified: Must hold an Active CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Certification or be willing to complete CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training upon hire.
  • Mobile & Ready: Active driver’s license and reliable transportation are required for home visits and community coordination.
  • Certified Professional: Valid Missouri Support Services Certification in School Social Work.
Your Impact (Key Duties)
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support and stabilization for students experiencing mental health crises or family emergencies using CPI-aligned techniques.
  • Home‑School Liaison: Conduct home visits to identify barriers to attendance and strengthen the partnership between families and the school.
  • Group Facilitation: Lead therapeutic small groups focusing on topics such as grief, social skills, and resilience.
  • Resource Coordination: Actively secure and manage "wraparound" services, connecting families with external medical, housing, and food security agencies.
  • Multidisciplinary Team Member: Participate in IEP and 504 meetings, providing the social history and behavioral insights necessary to support student needs.

  • Contract

    Terms:

    One-year only contract contingent upon annual federal funding.
  • Salary: Based on the Teacher/Professional Salary Schedule (commensurate with education and experience).
