Location: Trenton
School-Based Support Specialist
As a School-Based Support Specialist, you'll play a vital role in helping youth succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. In this position, you'll provide hands-on support directly in the school setting while collaborating with families, educators, and community partners to promote resilience, recovery, and overall well-being.
What You'll Do:
- Deliver individualized behavioral health interventions aligned with treatment goals in a school-based setting
- Support students in building coping skills, improving social-emotional functioning, and developing daily life skills
- Partner with schools, families, and community providers to ensure coordinated, high-quality care
- Manage a caseload while maintaining timely, accurate, and compliant documentation
- Provide crisis intervention, follow-up support, and outreach when needed
- Conduct home visits to strengthen engagement with youth and families
- Assist with quality assurance efforts, data tracking, and program compliance
- Participate in supervision, ongoing training, and professional development opportunities
- Adapt to evolving student needs while supporting program goals through collaboration and flexibility

What You Bring:
- Understanding of case management, rehabilitation, and treatment planning in behavioral health
- Knowledge of challenges impacting youth with mental health and/or substance use needs
- Ability to build trusting relationships with students, families, schools, and community partners
- Strong communication skills, including documentation and de-escalation techniques
- Ability to manage time effectively and coordinate services across multiple systems
- Comfort using electronic health records and standard office technology
- Strong initiative with a commitment to high-quality, person-centered care
- Ability to respond calmly and appropriately in crisis situations
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, behavioral health, or a related field; OR
- Bachelor's degree in an unrelated field plus 2 years of relevant behavioral health experience; OR
- Any 4-year combination of higher education and 2 years of qualifying experience; OR
- Associate's degree in Applied Science in Behavioral Health Support; OR
- 4 years of full-time qualifying experience
- Providing individual or group services focused on recovery and resiliency
- Teaching coping and life skills
- Supporting success in school, community, or employment settings
- Implementing treatment plan objectives
