Software Engineer, Cloud Engineer - Software, DevOps

Job Summary
Broadcom’s VMware Cloud Foundation Division (VCF) is looking for a talented and motivated Software Engineer to join the VCF Ops Management organization. As a key member of the Salt development team, you’ll focus on building, testing, and supporting management and configuration solutions for our private cloud offering. The work location for this position is our Palo Alto, CA office and requires legal authorization to work in the US.
Responsibilities- Contribute within an Agile team to design, review, and deliver high‑quality, well‑tested code that meets business requirements.
- Solve complex technical challenges by implementing robust, high‑standard software solutions and commit to delivering stories and tasks within the sprint.
- Develop automated test cases to validate integrated and end‑to‑end functionality.
- Actively communicate and collaborate within the team and across functional boundaries.
- Drive opportunities to increase efficiency, security, and product quality through best practices.
- Interact with support teams to handle customer issues.
- Bachelor’s degree in a software related field and 5+ years of experience or Master’s degree in a software related field and 3+ years of experience.
- Experience with Python, libraries, and asynchronous programming.
- Experience with Linux operating systems.
- Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, security, and system administration.
- Experience developing scalable systems with high availability.
- Experience in configuration management and infrastructure automation technologies like Salt and Ansible.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Git Lab/Git Hub Actions).
- Experience with relational and No
SQL databases. - Good knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, software design patterns and distributed systems fundamentals.
- Knowledge of version control systems such as Git.
- Ability to work independently and in a team‑oriented environment.
- Ability to learn, apply, and integrate with various technologies.
- Annual base salary range: $101,000 - $162,000.
- Eligible for a discretionary annual bonus and equity grants.
