OVERVIEW

Backed by a major non-profit healthcare consortium, our client is a newly formed, well-funded healthcare technology spin-off on a mission to fix a fundamentally broken industry. We are building the universal operating system for healthcare—an AI-native, event-driven platform connecting payers, providers, and patients. This isn't about maintaining legacy systems; it's about building a disruptive, intelligent data hub from the ground up within a modern, enterprise-scale Microsoft/Azure ecosystem.

As a Principal Engineer within the Commercialization organization, you are building the revenue-generating engine of the company. You will architect the market-facing products, enterprise APIs, and multi-tenant SaaS environments that will convince the largest payers and providers in the country to migrate to our platform.

* Must be eligible to work on W2 without sponsorship. Not eligible for C2C.

  • Pay Rate: $85 – $100/hr
  • Duration: 6-month contract-to-hire
  • Location:

    Hybrid; 2x/week in office — San Diego, Long Beach, Sacramento, Rancho Cordova, or Oakland (SF Bay Area)
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Architect & Execute:
    Lead the end-to-end design and hands-on development of complex, cloud-native applications utilizing Azure, .NET Core, and modern JavaScript frameworks (React).
  • Establish the Engineering Standard:
    Define, write, and enforce the gold standard for code quality, security (Dev Sec Ops ), and performance. If it isn't automated, it doesn't ship.
  • Drive the AI/Cloud

    Roadmap:

    Integrate emerging technologies, including Azure OpenAI and advanced data streaming layers, directly into the core platform architecture.
  • Mentor & Elevate:
    Act as a force multiplier for the engineering organization. Mentor junior and mid-level developers, conduct rigorous code reviews, and transform the team's culture into one of elite execution.
  • Infrastructure Ownership:
    Lead the design of CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/Kubernetes) to ensure secure, zero-downtime, large-scale deployments.
  • Architect for Commercial Scale:
    Lead the end-to-end design of our external-facing B2B SaaS platform, ensuring secure, multi-tenant architecture using Azure, .NET Core, and React.
  • Enterprise Integration & API Ecosystems:
    Design highly scalable, secure API gateways (integrating tools like Mule Soft) to allow complex enterprise customers to onboard and stream data into our core platform smoothly.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years operating as a Staff or Principal-level Individual Contributor.
  • Mastery of the Microsoft Stack:
    Deep, battle-tested expertise in C# / .NET Core and the broader Azure cloud ecosystem (AKS, Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus).
  • Modern Front-End Expertise:
    Advanced proficiency in React (preferred) or Vue, building highly responsive, scalable user interfaces.
  • Cloud-Native & IaC:
    Extensive experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform). You must view infrastructure as software.
  • Bonus Points:

    Experience integrating Mule Soft, building healthcare-specific compliance systems (HIPAA, SOC
    2), or direct experience deploying LLMs/AI models in production.
  • B2B SaaS / Multi-Tenancy Mastery:
    Proven experience building complex, scalable, multi-tenant SaaS products from the ground up. You know how to isolate customer data securely while maintaining a unified codebase.
  • Identity & Access:
    Deep understanding of modern identity, auth, and RBAC (Role-Based Access Control) for enterprise applications (OAuth, OpenID Connect, Azure AD).
