Fractional Tech Executive

We are hiring a fractional tech executive / project manager to own and grow the technical stack across a small portfolio of companies. This role will start as a project lead focused on an existing customer‑portal platform responsible for maintaining customer portals and integrations, then scale into a broader CTO‑like role as needs grow. Initial commitment is around 10–15 hours/week, rising to about 20 hours/week and potentially full‑time later this year.

Primary early projects include a customer portal (donation tracking, credits, gift card redemption) and a streaming/integration project (API integrations and ad metrics).

• Own day‑to‑day maintenance, troubleshooting, and feature rollouts for portal applications and customer‑facing systems.
• Implement and extend customer portal features (donation tracking, user credits, gift card redemption, order/resale flows).
• Design and build API integrations for streaming and analytics platforms (ingestion of ad metrics and advertiser/merchant workflows).
• Act as the central technical coordinator across companies: prioritize work, manage contractors, and ensure cross‑product consistency.
• Write and maintain production‑ready code and backend integrations as needed (including Java/web APIs or equivalent).
• Define and execute deployment, monitoring, and QA processes to reduce repeat issues and improve reliability.
• Produce clear technical documentation, onboarding materials, and handoffs for contractors and internal stakeholders.
• Be available for regular status syncs and occasional in‑person meetings in California as required.

• Proven hands‑on experience with customer‑portal platforms or similar tools (required).
• Strong traditional development skills and API integration experience;
  Java and web APIs preferred.
• Track record building customer portals, payments/gift card flows, or donation/credit systems.
• Experience integrating with third‑party streaming or ad‑tech platforms is a strong plus.
• Comfortable operating as a fractional/part‑time technical lead and scaling into broader responsibilities.
• Excellent cross‑functional communication, contractor/vendor management, and documentation skills.
• Self‑directed, reliable, and solutions‑oriented; strong culture fit and ability to move quickly are critical.
• Location flexible (remote acceptable); preference for candidates able to attend occasional meetings in California.
