Software Engineer I supports the development of software that serves Maritz technology, working closely with senior engineers on the team. The role involves building and maintaining application features and services with exposure to AI‑assisted engineering practices.

• Develop and maintain application features and services.
• 80% – Software Engineering Project Support
  • Routine to moderately complex development work across various environments.
  • Use AI‑assisted coding tools (Git Hub Copilot, Claude) to accelerate development and improve code quality.
  • Participate in code reviews of peers’ work, including AI‑generated code, to ensure quality, security, and adherence to standards.
  • Attend Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand‑ups, retrospectives).
  • Seek guidance from senior engineers on responsible adoption of AI tools.
  • Support efforts to apply AI and automation to improve deployment frequency and system reliability.
• 20% – Problem Solving & Operational Reliability
  • Assist with resolving service interruptions and root cause analysis during post‑mortems.
  • Identify trends, anomalies, and failure patterns; recommend solutions with senior input.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Support cross‑functional teams during major incidents, ensuring clear communication and timely updates.

• Bachelor’s degree in a technology‑related field or equivalent practical experience.
• 1–2 years of relevant experience; internships, co‑ops, or personal projects will be considered.
• Foundational knowledge of web application frameworks, object‑oriented and functional programming, design patterns, and secure coding practices.
• Experience building web applications or REST web services; familiarity with relational or No
  
  SQL databases and core concepts such as ACID transactions.
• Basic exposure to at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, OCI).
• Experience using AI‑assisted development tools such as Git Hub Copilot or Claude.
• Ability to evaluate AI‑generated code and configurations for correctness, security, and performance.
• Understanding of responsible AI use principles.
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
• Cloud platform or AI‑related certifications are a plus.

Hybrid role based in Fenton, MO (Tuesday|Wednesday|Thursday). The position requires permanent work authorization in the United States; sponsorship is not available.
