Senior Software Engineer, Android

• Deliver complete solutions across all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle: design, implementation, testing, delivery, and operations
• Advise immediate management on project-level issues
• Guide junior engineers
• Make technical decisions with little day-to-day supervision
• Lead engineering efforts and team-level processes
• Provide technical advice to senior leaders on systems, solutions, challenges, and strategy
• Promote technical standards, engineering best practices, and quality across Venmo and Pay Pal
• Determine technical tasks for other engineers
• Own design, implementation, and operational excellence of software components
• Improve existing structures and processes
• Contribute to the technical engineering roadmap through implementation assessments and recommendations
• Reconcile competing priorities and identify optimal solutions
• Anticipate implementation risks and develop general solutions
• Participate in code and design reviews and oversee project delivery
• Resolve technical inquiries
• Provide technical leadership with limited management guidance
• Tailor communication for technical and non-technical stakeholders across product, support, finance operations, compliance, and legal

• 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR any equivalent combination of education and experience
• 8+ years' experience in Mobile Development
• Experience developing and maintaining consumer-facing mobile applications at scale
• Strong Kotlin skills and knowledge of multi-threaded, asynchronous code
• Deep understanding of consuming GraphQL and REST APIs from mobile applications
• Strong understanding of testing best practices
• Familiarity with at least one testing framework for Mobile Development
• Skilled at writing unit and automation tests
• Strong knowledge of common design patterns, algorithms, and object-oriented programming
• Expertise in MVC and MVVM design patterns
• Ability to understand and discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences
• Passion for mentoring and developing software engineers

Demonstrates expertise in Mobile Development with a strong focus on Kotlin, GraphQL, and REST APIs, while leading engineering efforts and mentoring junior engineers. Capable of delivering high-quality consumer-facing mobile applications and promoting best practices across the software development lifecycle.
