Primary PurposeResponsible for ensuring the safety, well-being, and positive experience of all guests in and around the aquatic facility. This position is a front-line, safety-focused role that requires strong attention to detail, quick decision-making, and a high level of professionalism at all times. Lifeguards are expected to remain vigilant, enforce facility rules fairly and consistently, respond quickly and effectively to emergencies, and represent the City of Republic in a positive and professional manner.
SupervisionUnder the general direction of the Parks and Recreation Director and the direct supervision of the Head Guards, Aquatic Park Supervisors, and Aquatics Administrator.
Prior experience working in a related position is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesMust be a strong swimmer, able to command respect on the job, alert, and possess a keen sense of anticipation. Must remain polite and courteous while maintaining strict adherence to pool rules and regulations;
Must be a self-starter who possesses initiative and urgency in their work;
Must be able to effectively communicate through written and verbal skills;
Must have good time management skills;
Must have good cognitive and analytical skills;
Must be able to handle stressful situations;
Must be able to quickly assess or judge situations;
Must be able to make decisions under pressure in areas of responsibility;
Must have a working knowledge in the basic skills of operating computers;

- Must be at least 15 years old to apply.
- Must possess a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate and be certified in CPR for the Professional Rescuer. All certifications must remain valid throughout the entire season.
