Extra Duty Assist. Track Coach

Description

Qualifications: Teaching certificate preferred.

Min. Req: 60 hrs of college credit; less than 60 hrs
-3 yrs “provisional coach”

Supervises: Athletes and team assigned. Assume supervisory control over overall athletes in the program when such control is needed.

Job Goal :
To carry out the aims and objectives of the sports program as outlined by the head coach and school administration. To instruct athletes in individual team fundamentals, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain knowledge of district, state, and league regulations; consistently implement and accurately interpret all guidelines.
  • Teach athletes the coaching philosophy, fundamentals, skills, and techniques as directed by the head coach.
  • Ensure completion and documentation of all district and state requirements, including physical exams, parental consent forms, and eligibility verification.
  • Promote the track program by encouraging student participation, particularly among non-athletes.
  • Be present at all practices, competitions, and team travel to provide guidance, supervision, and support to athletes.
  • Maintain accountability for all equipment; if assigned responsibility for a team, manage equipment distribution and collection.
  • Submit an end-of-season report for lower-level teams, if applicable.
  • Assist the head coach with program operations as assigned.
  • Monitor student-athletes’ academic progress and conduct.
  • Attend clinics, conferences, and workshops to stay current with coaching strategies and sport-specific developments.
  • Maintain positive relationships with booster clubs, parents, officials, volunteers, and fans.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the head coach, athletic administrator, or principal.
