The Seasonal Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of patrons at White Birch Bay Aquatic Center. This position maintains continuous surveillance of the assigned aquatic areas, prevents unsafe situations, responds to emergencies, and provides professional and courteous customer service. Lifeguards serve as ambassadors of the City and help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming aquatic environment.

• Maintain constant surveillance of assigned pool areas to identify weak or distressed swimmers and unsafe conditions.
• Enforce all aquatic facility rules, regulations, and safety procedures in a consistent and professional manner.
• Respond to emergencies and perform water rescues, first aid, CPR, and AED as required.
• Demonstrate working knowledge of aquatic safety, rescue techniques, and first aid procedures
• Participate in required in-service training, including a minimum of four (4) hours per month.
• Maintain professional appearance and conduct at all times.
• Perform assigned cleaning and facility maintenance duties to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
• Provide courteous, responsive, and professional customer service to patrons and guests.
• Comply with all City policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Current Lifeguard Certification (American Red Cross or equivalent).
• Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification.
• Ability to successfully complete required pre-employment and in-service training.

The physical demands described here are representative of those necessary to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Duties require the ability to swim proficiently, perform water rescues, remain alert for extended periods, sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry equipment, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
