Platte County Community Center South in Platte City, Missouri is hiring a passionate and motivated Aquatics Program Coordinator II to help lead safe, engaging, and community‑building aquatics programs.

As the Aquatics Program Coordinator II, support the Aquatics Director in managing and growing the Y’s aquatics programs. Under the guidance of the Aquatics Director, you’ll play a key role in supervising staff, ensuring program quality, and building strong connections with our community.

• Assist in planning, managing, and implementing a variety of aquatics programs and activities (swim lessons, lifeguard training, open swim events).
• Assist in interviewing, scheduling, and supervising qualified associates.
• Ensure a safe aquatic environment by monitoring for and promptly addressing any hazards, needed repairs, or incidents, while maintaining strong knowledge of YMCA risk management policies and Emergency Action Plans.
• Oversee daily pool operations including chemical checks, maintenance, cleaning, and safety inspections to meet YMCA and local health standards.
• May perform duties of lifeguard, water fitness instructor, swim coach, or swim lesson instructor.
• Serve as Director on Duty when scheduled and support the center in day‑to‑day operations.
• Assist with trainings, certifications, and staff development to build a skilled aquatics team.
• Handle member inquiries and concerns with professionalism and care.
• Support budget management, record keeping, and program reporting.
• Collaborate with membership and marketing teams to promote programs and special events.

• Must be available evenings and weekends, when needed.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three years’ experience in aquatics.
• Minimum of one year supervision preferred.
• Must have a current nationally recognized Lifeguard Certification or be willing to achieve certification (American Red Cross preferred).
• Must have current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen or be willing to achieve certification (American Red Cross preferred).
• Preferred Lifeguard Instructor certification from national organization.
• Perform and pass rescue skills.
• Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions.
• Able to make independent and sound decisions in a fast‑paced environment.
• Able to exercise high levels of discretion and confidentiality.
• Detail oriented with good organizational skills, and multi‑task proficient.
• Strong computer skills with the ability to adapt to new software.
• Must have reliable transportation. Travel around the Greater Kansas City area is required.
