Job Overview The Transportation Supervisor, under the direction of the Manager, will be responsible for coordinating and scheduling the daily operations of the company’s transportation fleet, ensuring the efficient and timely delivery of services to customers. This includes dispatching company drivers, equipment, or service vehicles for material transport or external services. This role requires close communication with drivers, customers, and the operations team to ensure smooth, safe, and compliant transportation activities.
The Dispatcher will manage schedules, track vehicles, resolve service issues, and assist with optimizing routes to minimize delays and maximize efficiency. Duties will involve using radio, telephone, or computer to transmit assignments, as well as compiling statistics and reports on work progress. As well as approving work order tickets daily. This role may need to be available after office work hours when applicable.

Essential Job Functions Familiar with Office 365 and online dispatch portals to schedule and dispatch drivers and service vehicles according to customer requests, specifications, or needs, using radios or telephones and computers.
Relays work orders, messages, and information to or from drivers, supervisors, and field inspectors using telephones or two-way radios.
Prepares daily routes by creating work orders through the routing software program.
Confers with customers or supervising personnel to address questions, problems, and requests for service or equipment.
Monitors personnel or equipment locations and utilization to coordinate service and schedules.
Records and maintains files of customer requests, work or services performed, and other dispatch information.
Handles and resolves service interruptions, vehicle breakdowns, and other operational issues as they arise.
Provides real-time solutions to minimize disruption to services and ensure timely completion of deliveries.
Determines types or amounts of equipment, vehicles, materials, or personnel required according to work orders or specifications.
Manages difficult or emotional customer situations and solicits customer feedback to improve service.
Collects data from the plant and compiles reports that include volume, daily accidents, and hours of service for upper management.
Collects data from the Driver’s Daily Route sheet and enters mileage into a spreadsheet.
Handles heavy customer service tasks, such as sending out manifests upon request and calling COD customers to schedule service.
Ensures compliance with Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and safety policies.
