Bus Drill Coordinator
Transdev Services, Inc. is seeking a Bus Drill Coordinator for its Boston Public Schools transportation contract. The role is crucial in ensuring compliance with Massachusetts state requirements for school bus evacuation drills.
Responsibilities- Develop and maintain curriculum and supporting materials for school bus evacuation drills.
- Coordinate with the Safety and Training Department, BPS DOT, and individual school staff to schedule and assign resources for drills.
- Conduct school bus evacuation drills at each school location, educating students, staff, faculty, bus drivers, and other relevant personnel.
- Complete weekly reports tracking progress toward annual goals.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Perform duties as a School Bus Safety Trainer as needed.
- Handle additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
- Valid Class B CDL with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements.
- Valid Massachusetts School Bus Certificate.
- Valid Massachusetts School Bus Instructor Certificate.
- Valid Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). card.
- Excellent motor vehicle record.
- College degree preferred.
- Required:
Two (2) years of experience in student transportation operations. - Preferred:
School bus driver training experience; adult instruction experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- In-depth knowledge of transit laws, ordinances, and regulations.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with regulatory agencies and community organizations.
- Professional interaction with internal and external customers at all levels.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software such as Web Risk, LYTX, Drive Cam, Power BI, and e‑Learning platforms.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong judgment, discretion, and diplomacy.
- Leadership and motivational skills.
- Database information retrieval and processing skills.
- Detail oriented with effective time‑management skills.
- Teamwork and modeling of safe behavior.
- Capacity to work with employees to resolve issues, enhance professional growth, and ensure safety compliance.
- Ability to handle sensitive confidential information appropriately.
- Familiarity with the transportation service area.
- Successful drug testing and criminal background check with fingerprinting.
- Work shifts or flexible schedules as needed.
- Long periods of sitting or standing.
- 80% of the job performed outdoors in varied weather conditions near vehicles.
- Ability to maintain a presence at company locations and in the field.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Repetitive hand‑wrist motion, walking, stooping, reaching, climbing, lifting, balancing, handling materials.
- Exposure to traffic, dust, vehicle fumes, and moderate noise levels.
- Travel required (≈80% travel between locations for drills, meetings, training).
The role includes frequent exposure to outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and moderate noise. Work locations include office spaces and field sites.
