- Terms of Employment: 162 Days to accommodate driving on days that school is in session and attend safety training/professional development as required by the state and the district. Route rates reviewed annually and benefits according to Board policies.
To provide safe and efficient transportation to students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Transport students over specified routes according to an established time schedule.
- Obey all traffic laws.
- Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses as prescribed by state, federal and district policies.
- Maintain discipline when students are on the bus.
- Report undisciplined students to the proper authority.
- Keep assigned bus clean.
- Pre‑trip and post‑trip the bus according to state/district procedures.
- Notify the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
- Discharge students only at authorized stops.
- Transport only authorized students.
- Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Ability to work to implement the vision and mission of the district.
- Exercise responsible leadership when on out of district school trips.
- Attend safety meetings and summer in‑service meetings.
- Submit to all required DOT random drug and alcohol screening.
- Report all accidents and complete required reports.
- Keep all required licenses current.
- Demonstrate effective human relations and communication skills with coworkers, students, and parents.
- Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, dress, and appropriate professional manner for the work setting.
- Understand and adhere to all district rules, regulations, and policies.
- Drive extra duty trips if available.
- Read and write simple sentences in English, read and understand maps, and possess basic writing skills sufficient to complete pre‑ and post‑trip reports and student discipline referrals.
- Adhere to good safety practices.
- All other duties as required or assigned.
- High school diploma or the equivalent.
- Valid Missouri Commercial Driver’s License with S and P endorsements as prescribed by state law.
- Successfully complete the training program provided by the district.
- Possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and physical attributes necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate or acceptable.
- Desire to continue career improvement by enhancing skills and job performance.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to sit for long periods of time, occasionally walk and stand, frequently bend and twist the torso and neck, frequently use repetitive arm, wrist and hand movements, occasionally lift up to 75 pounds, and use close, distance, and peripheral vision as well as depth perception.

AttendanceConsistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.
Conditions and EnvironmentEmployee will frequently work in temperatures below 32 degrees and above 100 degrees Fahrenheit, occasionally work in rain, sleet and ice and drive on slippery conditions. Often work in a high area with a high noise level including engine noise and the sound of many children speaking; a raised voice may be necessary.
