Material Handling​/Forklift Operator - MO

Position Summary
:
The Material Handling Forklift Operator plays a crucial role in the unboxing and movement of product to the processing line, ensuring safe operations of equipment and following prescribed safety standards for lifting and movement.

• Safely drive forklift to transport and move frozen product boxes from storage to the unboxing area.
• Follow safety guidelines such as wearing a seatbelt and adhering to speed limits.
• Load and unload boxes: carefully lift and move boxes, ensuring they are placed safely in the designated area.
• Transport frozen boxes from receiving areas to designated unboxing or storage spaces.
• Inspect loads: ensure boxes are properly secured to prevent spillage or damage.
• Use appropriate forklift equipment based on weight and height.
• Stack and organize pallets according to standard operating procedures.
• Monitor environmental conditions to maintain safe operations with frozen products.
• Unbox and sort: open and remove 60-pound boxes of frozen products, using proper lift‑assist equipment.
• Place product boxes in designated area and track inventory: record unboxing and receipt of inventory in systems.
• Label or tag products for identification and tracking.
• Store frozen products in designated cold storage units such as freezers and refrigerators to maintain quality.
• Maintain a clean and safe working area by cleaning up debris or spills.
• Follow safety protocols, including proper lifting techniques and PPE; comply with company policies and OSHA regulations.
• Assist in stock movement and restocking to ensure smooth inventory flow.

• Ability to safely operate a forklift in tight spaces.
• Knowledge of safety procedures, load capacities, and basic maintenance.
• Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance on forklifts.
• Familiarity with inventory management systems such as barcode scanners and RFID.
• Basic understanding of safety protocols for heavy or temperature‑sensitive items.
• Good organizational and communication skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Teamwork and coordination with warehouse staff.

• Communicate verbally and in writing.
• Be independently mobile; use a computer and keyboard.
• Regularly sit, stand, walk, reach, stretch, stoop, and bend for extended periods.
• Lift and move heavy products, including 60-pound boxes of frozen meat.
• Exposure to noise levels that may require hearing protection.
