Transportation Director

Terms of employment: 12 month position. Salary range - $50,000 - $65,000. Actual contract amount will commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Job Description:

The Transportation Director is responsible for the overall management, supervision, and coordination of the district's transportation program. This position ensures the safe, efficient, and cost-effective transportation of students while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required
  • Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements preferred
  • Experience in school transportation operations and supervision preferred
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations, routing software, and fleet management
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to analyze data, solve problems, and make sound decisions

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and supervise all district transportation services
  • Develop and maintain bus routes and schedules
  • Coordinate transportation for regular education, special education, extracurricular activities, and field trips
  • Monitor daily transportation operations to ensure safety and efficiency
  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate bus drivers and transportation staff
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels
  • Conduct safety meetings and ongoing professional development
  • Ensure drivers maintain required certifications and licenses
  • Ensure compliance with Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) transportation regulations and other applicable laws
  • Maintain transportation records, reports, and documentation
  • Investigate accidents, complaints, and disciplinary issues
  • Implement and monitor transportation safety procedures and emergency plans
  • Maintain transportation records, reports, and state reimbursement documentation
  • Present transportation updates and recommendations to district administration as requested
  • Address transportation concerns in a professional and timely manner
  • Promote positive relationships between the transportation department and district stakeholders

Terms of employment:
Twelve-month. Salary and work year to be established by the Board. Evaluation:
Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy of Evaluation of Professional Personnel. District reserves the right to close any job posting when a suitable applicant has been found.
