Summary
The Site Coordinator ensures safe, organized, and efficient movement of buses and vehicles within company lots. This role directs traffic flow, coordinates parking, and communicates with drivers to maintain order and safety. By providing hands-on support, the Site Coordinator helps prevent accidents, reduces congestion, and ensures drivers have the guidance they need for a smooth start and finish to their routes.
Responsibilities- Lot and Traffic Coordination
- Direct the safe entry, parking, and exit of buses and support vehicles in assigned lots.
- Maintain organized parking patterns to maximize space and minimize risk.
- Monitor traffic flow, especially during peak periods, to prevent congestion or unsafe movement.
- Use hand signals, radios, and other tools to guide drivers clearly and safely.
- Vehicle Operations
- Safely operate company vehicles, including buses, to reposition, stage, or assist with operational needs.
- Perform pre- and post-trip checks when operating vehicles to ensure compliance with company safety policies.
- Support maintenance or operations teams by moving vehicles for service or staging as directed.
- Safety Oversight
- Ensure drivers follow lot safety procedures, including speed limits and designated pathways.
- Identify and report unsafe behaviors, hazards, or equipment issues to the Operations Coordinator.
- Conduct visual safety checks of the lot and staging areas, reporting any concerns immediately.
- Reinforce a culture of safety by reminding drivers and staff of safe practices when needed.
- Communication and Coordination
- Act as the primary point of contact for drivers entering or exiting the lot.
- Relay updates and instructions from dispatch, maintenance, or operations leadership.
- Notify the Operations Coordinator or maintenance teams promptly of delays, incidents, or operational issues.
- Operational Support
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free lot environment.
- Assist with staging buses and preparing equipment for upcoming routes.
- Document and report observations or incidents to support operational performance tracking.
- Customer and Team Support
- Greet and guide new or visiting drivers to ensure they understand lot procedures.
- Assist in coordinating safe pedestrian flow within the lot to protect staff and visitors.
- Provide additional site support as directed by the Operations Coordinator or leadership.
- Education / Experience
- Required:
- No formal education required
- Minimum 2 years’ total experience with CDL (Class A or
B) - Minimum 1-year experience operating vehicle “in-type” (similar to prospective position)
- Demonstrated progressive leadership roles
- Safety, Training and DOT Regulation experience
- Class A or B state driver’s license with a passenger endorsement and air brakes certification
