Who We Are

Ryde Trans was founded in 1979 and incorporated in 1996 to provide safe and high-quality transportation to people in the East Bay. We serve a diverse group of institutional customers such as public transit agencies, governmental entities, school districts, health care providers, and social service agencies, as well as private customers. We provide a wide array of transportation products, including paratransit, fixed route, shuttle, charter services, and ADA eligibility assessments.

Ryde Trans specializes in transporting people who depend on safe, comfortable, and reliable transportation to essential services like school, rehabilitation training, medical appointments, and work.

About the Role

As a Dispatcher Supervisor, you’ll lead the team at the heart of that promise—supervising a group of approximately 10 dispatchers, keeping shifts covered, and making the real-time calls that keep vehicles rolling and passengers served. If you’re a calm, organized problem-solver who thrives in a fast-moving operation, we’d like to hear from you.

What You'll Do
  • Supervise, coach, and support a team of approximately 10 dispatchers, monitoring performance against company standards
  • Proactively assess staffing needs based on service hours and peak periods, and assign duties to ensure adequate coverage across all shifts
  • Build and publish staff schedules in line with service demand and any applicable collective bargaining agreements, ensuring drivers are notified of their schedules in a timely manner
  • Ensure dispatch operations follow both company and client policies and procedures
  • Organize and coordinate new-hire and refresher training programs for the dispatch team
  • Prepare, verify, and authorize dispatch schedules and work records for payroll
  • Monitor dispatch response to driver incidents, equipment failures, vehicle breakdowns, and other service disruptions
  • Ensure daily service events are documented accurately and completely
  • Oversee window/check-out functions, including collecting and reconciling fares and reconciling breaks during driver check-out
  • Monitor non-revenue payroll hours
  • Maintain accurate records and organized filing systems
  • Support a safe work environment and a focus on injury prevention
  • Exercise sound judgment to resolve operational problems as they arise
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Customer service and/or call-center experience
  • Proficiency with basic and multi-tasking computer operation in a Windows environment
  • Ability to type at a speed of at least 35 keystrokes per minute
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English, verbally and in writing (essential for radio, phone, and dispatch communication)
  • At least 1–2 years of relevant work experience
  • Successful completion of the company training program
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
  • Bilingual—ability to speak English and another language fluently
  • Prior transit, dispatch, or supervisory experience
Safety-Sensitive Designation & Testing

This is a safety-sensitive position under Federal Transit Administration regulations (49 CFR Part 655) because it involves controlling the dispatch and movement of revenue service vehicles. As such, the role is subject to the company’s DOT/FTA drug and alcohol testing program, including pre-employment, random, reasonable-suspicion, and post-accident testing as applicable. Employment is contingent on a satisfactory background check conducted after a conditional offer, consistent with the California Fair Chance Act.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

The following are essential functions of the role. Reasonable accommodations will be provided to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform them.

  • Move about the office and between floors
  • Sit for extended periods
  • Work effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced, multi-task environment
