The Director of Operations will oversee the day-to-day activities of the warehouse, ensuring that the organization is managed and performing efficiently and effectively. This role will develop and implement strategies for improving key performance indicators including damages, incident rates, overtime, pick rates, and accuracy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Ensures achievement of warehouse revenue coals
- Owns SG&A budget for the warehouse
- Optimizes warehouse resources and builds a strong and capable warehouse team
- Ensures inventory is accounted for in a safe and efficient manner
- Establishes and maintains workflow processes necessary to meet warehouse goals
- Establishes quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the warehouse's efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identifies opportunities for improvement
- Implements policies and procedures that will improve day-to-day operations
- Analyzes trends in technology and assesses the impact of emerging technologies to create efficiencies in warehousing and logistics
- Oversees team that ensures equipment and facility are operational while identifying opportunities for improvement to reduce waste and manage repair needs
- Ensures work environments are adequate and safe
- Communicates and explains new directives, policies, or procedures to managers; for major changes, meets with entire staff to explain changes, answer questions, and maintain morale
- Projects a positive image of the organization to employees, customers, industry, and community
- Performs other related duties as assigned
- Thorough understanding of practices, theories, and policies involved in business and finance
- Superior verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Superior managerial and diplomacy skills
- Extremely proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Participates in the hiring and training of departmental managers
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
- Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or related field required
- Master's degree in Business Administration preferred
- Minimum 15 years of related experience required
- ERP and/or WMS experience required
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and possess physical stamina
- Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull heavy materials and objects
- Must be able to crouch in small spaces and climb ladders
