Overview
Job Title: Manager, Placement, Commercial – Middle/Large (Fleet)
The Manager, Placement, Commercial – Middle/Large (Fleet) reports to the Director of Placement and serves as a direct contributor to the efficiency and optimization of placement activities and projects. This role oversees placement strategies and carrier relationships specific to fleet transportation accounts, ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and optimizing market access for this specialized segment. This position carries the organization’s reputation and professional manner in dealings with customers, carriers, and colleagues.
Scope: This role manages carrier placement team members and supports the Commercial non-fleet internal rating process with select insurance carriers. In addition to core placement responsibilities, this role will manage fleet transportation risks, ensuring accurate rating, underwriting alignment, and carrier negotiations tailored to fleet transportation requirements.
Essential Responsibilities- Transportation Risk Expertise:
Develop and maintain deep knowledge of non-fleet transportation risks, including regulatory requirements, coverage options and market trends. - Team Leadership and Talent:
Manage the carrier placement specialist(s), support team development and goals. - Culture and Development:
Develop partnerships with Client Advisors and Account Management to determine marketing strategy and execute placement for new and existing accounts. - Carrier Performance Management:
Partner with the Director of Placement to maintain carrier relationships and cultivate new carrier relationships for the Midwest Division. Maintain familiarity with various insurance companies, focusing on Strategic Carrier Partners. - Performance Monitoring:
Implement, support, and monitor KPIs to measure carrier placement performance, track metrics, and provide regular reports to senior leadership. - Analysis and Assessment:
Analyze submissions to make decisions based on risk characteristics, exposure analysis, hazard recognition and control. Use underwriting guidelines to ensure compliance with authority levels and state regulations. Handle confidential information. Review policies and contracts and make recommendations for improvement where possible. - Carrier Relationships:
Attend seminars, company meetings, carrier events, and educational activities as needed. Work with market participants to keep the team informed of underwriting and sales alignment, products and capabilities. - Insurance Placement:
Work with sales and service teams on the renewal remarketing process, including submitting to insurers, negotiating with the carrier, and obtaining information from the insured. - Operational Excellence:
Prepare property and casualty submissions for new business prospects and renewing accounts, including insurance specifications, loss summaries, prospect profiles, exposure schedules, etc. - Process Improvement and Technology Integration:
Promote adoption of technology, process optimization, automation, and streamlining to enhance efficiency and scalability; ensure internal solutions like AURIS and EPIC are leveraged to maximize client retention and profitability.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field is preferred
- Active property & casualty license
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the insurance and/or financial services industries
- Proven experience in managing teams, implementing process improvements, and driving operational excellence
- Proven ability to drive operational excellence and efficiency in dynamic client experiences
- Experience supporting the business development lifecycle
- Self-motivated with the ability to motivate others in a fast-paced environment
