What You Will DoThe Patient Account Representative – Self-Pay is an extension of a client’s business office staff. Representatives are responsible for taking in‑coming and out‑going calls to patients and insurance companies to resolve patient accounts. All client policies and procedures are followed. Representatives will perform any and all job‑related duties as assigned.
This position is hybrid, based out of our Mitchell, SD office. Individuals must be able to work an eight hour shift between the hours of 7:00 AM CT – 5:00 PM CT.
The qualified individual will be receiving incoming calls and making outbound calls and soft collections.

- Assist patients with policy statuses and insurance verifications
- Customer Service
- Account Updates
- Strong Verbal / Written Communication Skills
- Complete all business‑related requests and correspondence from patients.
- Complete all assigned projects in a timely manner.
- Assist client and patients in all requested tasks.
- Communicate to Guidehouse management areas of concern or areas of improvement.
- Research and respond to all patient inquiries received by telephone and mail.
- Update patient demographic information and initiate account adjustments.
- High School Diploma or GED
- 0–2+ years working within the following sectors: insurance, business, finance or customer service
- Working knowledge can be of the following: healthcare, insurance claims, billing, finance, accounting or customer service‑related responsibilities
- PC skills in a Windows environment – specifically knowledge and utilization of desktop applications like Microsoft Word and Excel
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Record Systems (e.g. eCW Systems)
- 1+ year experience working in a Healthcare or Customer Service setting.
- Ability to initiate and follow through on projects and work independently with minimal supervision.
