Job Summary:
We are seeking highly motivated Literacy Coach to join the Mitchell School District. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of literacy instruction. This role requires a passion for supporting educators in enhancing their literacy teaching practices to improve student outcomes as well as providing direct instruction. The Literacy Coach’s goal is to ensure students receive high-quality literacy instruction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of the district’s comprehensive literacy curriculum and resources.
- Provide coaching, modeling, and support of whole-group evidence-based literacy practices.
- Collaborate with teachers to set clear and measurable goals related to literacy instruction.
- Coach teachers in utilizing the district’s universal benchmark screener assessments to monitor student progress.
- Analyze student literacy diagnostic assessment data and use it to inform instructional decisions and Tier 2 interventions.
- Instruct small-group intervention groups.
- Attend professional development opportunities to help implement effective literacy instruction.
- Develop and lead monthly data team meetings and literacy workshops.
- Work with district leaders and teachers to create a comprehensive literacy plan aligned with SD literacy framework.
- Maintain records of coaching impact cycles, teacher goals, and student literacy performance.
- Foster a culture of literacy throughout the school community, involving parents and stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- K-8 Education Experience
- Strong knowledge of SD state standards, SD literacy framework, and the science of reading research
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Demonstrate ability to lead and motivate
