Adjunct Faculty

Kean University in Union, New Jersey. The positions are filled on an as-needed basis and may be for up to one or two class periods per semester.

• Teach General, Organic and Biochemistry lecture, recitation and laboratory courses at the Union and Jersey City campus.
• Teach introductory physics lecturer courses, possibly with a lab component at the Union and Jersey City campus.
• Provide at least one (1) hour of availability outside of the classroom per week for each credit taught during each semester/session.
• Provide an additional thirty (30) minutes of availability for each additional class taught during the semester, and for adjuncts teaching fewer than three (3) credits, provide at least thirty (30) minutes of availability per week.
• Offer additional office hours beyond the amounts required at the discretion of the adjunct faculty member.

• Master’s degree in Chemistry, Physics or a related field required.
• ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D. or other acceptable disciplinary doctorate encouraged.
• Teaching experience required unless otherwise indicated.
• Proficiency in a learning management system required.
• Applicants must submit a cover letter indicating availability for days, evenings or weekends, and a preferred campus location.
• Official transcripts required before appointment.

Adjuncts are paid in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement:

• Effective September 2025: $2,100 per credit.
• Effective September 2026: $2,225 per credit.
• Beginning with the 13th semester taught: an additional $75 per credit.

Adjuncts are enrolled in a state‑administered retirement plan, when eligible, and may be eligible to enroll in the Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program for medical and prescription drug coverage.

Princeton; and Trenton. Faculty may also be assigned to teach online classes for Kean Global.
