Adjunct Faculty
Kean University seeks adjunct faculty to teach graduate level Bilingual and TESOL courses and undergraduate level World Languages courses at the Union or Jersey City campuses.
All adjunct positions are non‑tenure track. They require a master’s degree in a related field and teaching experience unless otherwise indicated; candidates with an ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D. or other acceptable disciplinary doctorate are encouraged to apply. Proficiency in a Learning Management System is required, consistent with University guidelines.
Responsibilities- Teach one or more three‑credit or four‑credit classes scheduled once a week for three hours.
- Provide at least one hour of availability outside of the classroom per week for each class (or thirty minutes for additional classes or for teachers of fewer than three credits).
- Maintain course content and student engagement through the Learning Management System.
- Make office hours available, in person or virtually, as scheduled by the adjunct faculty member.
- Master‑degree in a related field.
- Teaching experience expected; ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or other doctorate encouraged.
- Proficiency in a Learning Management System.
- Availability to teach weekdays prior to 3 pm is desired.
- Rate of pay: $2,100 per credit (effective September 2025); $2,225 per credit (effective September 2026). Additional $75 per credit after the 13th semester taught.
- Eligible adjuncts enrolled in a state‑administered retirement plan; optional part‑time state health benefits program.
Employment may require office work at any Kean campus or affiliated work site, including Union, Toms River, Jefferson Township, Jersey City, Middletown Township, Manahawkin, Princeton, or Trenton. Faculty may also be assigned to teach online classes for Kean Global.
