Responsibilities

Teach one or more introductory and advanced-level History courses in person at Union, Kean Ocean, or Jersey City campus. Provide required office hours: at least one hour per week for 3-credit classes, 30 minutes for each additional class, and 30 minutes per week for fewer than 3-credit classes. Availability may be in person or virtual. Faculty may also teach online classes for Kean Global.

Location

Employment requires work at any of Kean’s New Jersey campuses or affiliated sites:
Union, Kean Ocean, Kean Skylands, Jersey City, Brookdale, Manahawkin, Princeton, Trenton, or others. Placement is based on operational and university needs.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in History or a related field required. Teaching experience required unless otherwise indicated. Candidates with ABD, Ed.D., Ph.D., or other disciplinary doctorates are encouraged to apply. Proficiency in a learning management system is required. Official transcripts must be submitted before appointment.

Compensation & Benefits

Pay rates: $2,100 per credit (effective September 2025), $2,225 per credit (effective September 2026). After the 13th semester taught, an additional $75 per credit is awarded. Adjuncts are enrolled in a state-administered retirement plan and may qualify for the Part‑Time State Health Benefits Program.
