Job Title
Teacher
Qualifications- Teacher’s certificate.
- Required degree(s) and area of major study for qualification #1. Alternatives may be accepted as the Board finds appropriate.
Reports To: The assigned building principal or supervisory personnel.
Supervises: Education Assistants as assigned by Principal or Special Services Director.
Performance Responsibilities- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the location and times designated.
- Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of each student.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Prepares for classes and provides written evidence of preparation upon request.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guides the learning process toward curriculum goals, establishing clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with location limitations and student needs.
- Implements the district’s philosophy of education when planning instruction.
- Assesses student accomplishment and provides progress reports as required.
- Diagnoses learning disabilities on a regular basis, seeking assistance of district specialists as required.
- Protects students, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and regulations.
- Assists administration with student life, conduct policy, and establishes reasonable classroom discipline rules.
- Provides availability to students and parents outside instructional day when reasonable.
- Plans and supervises assignments for educational assistants/volunteers and evaluates performance with department heads.
- Maintains and improves professional competence.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
- Supervises extracurricular activities as assigned.
Contract as per Negotiated Agreement with the BVEA.
Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
EvaluationPerformance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of classroom teachers and other teaching specialists.
