Job Summary
The BIM/VDC Detailer produces accurate, buildable drawing packages from the BIM/VDC model to support prefabrication, field installation, and sign‑off/approval workflows. This role owns the creation and upkeep of Prefab Drawings, Installation Drawings, and Sign‑Off Drawings, including required annotations, schedules, and spool numbering. The Detailer publishes/distributes packages to the right stakeholders and maintains clear naming and revision control to company standards.
Primary Responsibilities- Drawing Production & Detailing: Create and maintain Prefab Drawing packages from approved model content, including prefab schedules, spool numbering, and sheet‑specific data. Produce Installation Drawings for field clarity along with Sign‑Off drawings. Ensure sheets are complete, readable, and consistent.
- Publishing, Distribution & Revision Control: Publish/export packages in required formats (primarily PDF). Upload and/or email packages to required recipients/locations per project needs. Maintain basic revision control.
- Documentation‑Focused Coordination Support: Identify and communicate missing information, conflicts, or unclear intent that impacts drawing accuracy. Escalate routing/intent/coordination decisions to the BIM/VDC Modeler, BIM/VDC Coordinator, or BIM/VDC Lead. Follow established templates, standards, and checklists to support department consistency.
- The Detailer owns documentation and deliverables. The Detailer may assist with routing/coordination as assigned. Perform other tasks as needed to support BIM/VDC operations.
- Work closely with the BIM/VDC Modeler and BIM/VDC Coordinator to ensure packages reflect approved model intent and project requirements. Reports directly to the BIM/VDC Lead.
Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency producing construction‑ready drawing sets from BIM/VDC Revit models (views, sheets, annotations, schedules)
- Strong attention to detail and consistency across sheet packages
- Ability to manage multiple deliverables, deadlines, and revisions clearly
- Clear written communication for distribution emails and handoff notes
- Comfortable working within templates, naming conventions, and documentation standards
- Prefab workflow experience (spooling, spool tracking, prefab sheet sets)
- Familiarity with sign‑off/penetration documentation requirements
- Experience with electrical construction documentation and field/shop expectations
