Provide full DB2 database engineering and administration for FMWorkFlow, including performance, integrity, recovery, resilience, and integration with Web Sphere and the supporting infrastructure.
Duties:- Administer production and non-production DB2 environments.
- Design and maintain database schemas.
- Conduct database performance analysis and capacity planning.
- Tune database performance and optimize queries.
- Diagnose database degradation, failures, locking, connectivity, and cross-stack issues.
- Protect data integrity and reconcile identified exceptions.
- Engineer and validate backup, restoration, and recovery activities.
- Support resilience and COOP planning.
- Maintain controlled database configurations in development and test environments.
- Manage test data consistent with security and sensitivity requirements.
- Coordinate DB2 integration with Web Sphere middleware and the supporting Windows/Linux and virtual infrastructure.
- Support patching, updates, corrective maintenance, and system modifications.
- Validate database performance and data integrity after changes.
- Maintain database configuration, recovery, test, and operating documentation.
- Provide advanced technical escalation for database-related incidents.
- Direct DB2 administration is required. General SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MySQL experience alone does not demonstrate the required capability.
- Demonstrate work involving Web Sphere integration or comparable direct troubleshooting of the DB2-to-Web Sphere stack. Web Sphere familiarity without DB2 administration is not.
- DB2 versions and operating environments personally administered.
- Schema-design responsibilities.
- Performance-tuning and query-optimization examples.
- Backup, restoration, recovery, failover, or resilience work.
- Data-integrity incidents or reconciliation activities personally resolved.
- Web Sphere connectivity or cross-stack troubleshooting.
- Development/test database administration and test-data handling.
The position is likely to require privileged or root‑level system access. The candidate must be able to obtain the favorable trustworthiness determination based on an SSBI when required for the assigned access.
Anticipated start:
September 28, 2026
Primary work location:
Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota. Occasional work at Wright‑Patterson AFB, Ohio.
Project Length:
Up to 4.5 years
