Job Summary:TRAIL-EZE is seeking a dependable and safety-focused Final Assembly team member to support the final stages of trailer production. This role is based primarily in Mitchell, SD and is responsible for operating forklifts, overhead cranes, and assisting with final assembly tasks to ensure trailers are completed to TRAIL-EZE quality standards.
A CDL is preferred (not required) for this position; however, this is not a delivery or transport role. CDL responsibilities are limited to backing trailers in and out of facility bays and occasional internal yard movement. On rare occasions, the position may assist with moving trailers between TRAIL-EZE locations in Platte, SD and Corsica, SD.
This position is focused on hands‑on production support within the final department and is not a driving or over‑the‑road role.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently
- Back trailers in and out of facility bays and staging areas using CDL-qualified operation (if applicable)
- Position and stage trailers throughout the Mitchell production yard as needed
- Assist with final assembly tasks including installation of hydraulic lines and related components
- Apply decals, labels, and finishing components to completed trailers
- Perform final inspections to ensure quality standards are met prior to release
- Support general final department workflow and production needs
- Move trailers within the facility to support sequencing and production flow
- Occasionally assist with internal trailer movement between TRAIL-EZE locations (Platte, SD and Corsica, SD) when required
- Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures and proper PPE usage
- Work collaboratively with production, quality, and fabrication teams
- Perform other duties as assigned to support final department operations
- Valid CDL preferred (not required)
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Experience operating forklifts and/or overhead cranes preferred
- Prior manufacturing, fabrication, or assembly experience strongly preferred
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to safely operate and maneuver large trailers in tight spaces
- Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with hydraulic systems preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong safety mindset with consistent PPE compliance
Physical Requirements:
- Manufacturing and industrial shop environment
- Frequent standing, bending, lifting, climbing, and walking
- Work performed around large equipment, trailers, and moving machinery
- Must be able to lift up to 50+ pounds as needed
- Exposure to noise, metal fabrication environments, and outdoor yard conditions
- Requires safe operation of forklifts, cranes, and trailers in confined spaces
