Classroom and Finance Support VISTA

Tatanka Funds Incorporated is an emerging Native American Community Development Financial Institution that specializes in educating Native Americans in financial literacy, business technical assistance, and home ownership. Tatanka Funds Incorporated builds community members' financial capacity by providing Native American entrepreneurs, first-time homeowners, and community members with education and technical assistance to become financially stable and achieve goals in their businesses and families.

The VISTA will help Tatanka Funds address barriers that limit economic opportunity, including financial literacy challenges, limited access to banking and affordable credit, difficulty managing household finances, inadequate knowledge of budgeting and savings, barriers to business development and technical assistance, and challenges to achieving and maintaining home ownership. To advance this work, the VISTA will build organizational capacity through fundraising activities—including grant writing, donor engagement, and donation campaigns—and by developing and strengthening financial systems that support effective nonprofit accounting, financial tracking, reporting, and long-term sustainability.
