Description Body Shop Apprentice Full-time

Vern Eide of Mitchell offers excellent careers in the fun world of automotive service. We’re looking for a Body Shop Apprentice to join our growing team of technicians. You’ll work and learn side-by-side with seasoned staff, assisting in various tasks to restore vehicles to their pre-accident condition. Learn the craft while actually doing the work and getting paid!

Apprentice positions provide hands-on training in removing damaged body parts and replacing them with fixed or new parts. You’ll get experience in all elements of auto body repair with the opportunity and training to advance your career.

Our next Body Shop Apprentice has a starting pay of $18 an hour, with a Monday through Friday schedule.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist body technicians with vehicle repairs and collision restoration.
  • Prepare vehicles for repair, including disassembly and reassembly.
  • Sand, grind, and clean vehicle surfaces in preparation for repairs and paint.
  • Remove and install vehicle parts, trim, moldings, and accessories.
  • Help perform minor dent repairs under technician supervision.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Operate shop tools and equipment safely and properly.
  • Transport vehicles within the dealership or body shop as needed.
  • Assist with masking, taping, and other paint preparation tasks.
  • Clean repaired vehicles and prepare them for quality inspections and customer delivery.
  • Follow manufacturer repair procedures and shop quality standards.
  • Learn proper repair techniques through hands-on training and mentorship.
  • Inspect tools and equipment and report any maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Keep accurate records of completed work as directed.
  • Perform other shop duties as assigned to support the collision repair team.
Requirements
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
  • Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Comfortable using hand and power tools.
  • Must be over 18 years old
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
