Summary
CHS is looking for a Hazmat Truck Driver to join our team in Sioux Falls, Mitchell, or Yankton, SD
. This individual will be hauling fuel to customers locally and regionally. The schedule for this role will be Tuesday-Saturday, and will require the driver to be in a sleeper truck when needed. There could be some additional weekend work during the busy seasons as needed. The ideal candidate would have a Class A CDL with hazmat/tanker endorsements and 2+ years of tractor trailer experience.

Responsibilities- Operate a semi‑tractor and tanker trailer to deliver hazardous energy‑grade materials to customer sites in a safe, compliant manner.
- Comply with DOT regulations and company policies for safe driving, including route and hazard awareness.
- Load and unload products by connecting/disconnecting loading arms and hoses; follow all hazardous material handling and transfer safety procedures.
- Deliver professional, customer‑focused service during pickups and deliveries, coordinate with customers and internal teams.
- Prepare delivery documentation and daily load/unload reports; record accurate electronic logs.
- Conduct pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections; submit maintenance reports and expedite repair needs and equipment issues promptly.
- Immediately notify leadership of incidents, near misses, spills/releases, or safety concerns; execute required response and reporting procedures.
- Support related tasks such as equipment hookups, site readiness checks, and assigned duties.
- Valid Class A or Class B CDL with tanker and hazmat endorsements.
- 2+ years or 200,000 miles of verifiable driving experience.
- Demonstrated experience hauling hazardous materials.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Demonstrated safety performance and consistent adherence to procedures in hazardous materials operations.
- Demonstrated customer service and communication skills; interact professionally with internal teams and customers.
- Demonstrated experience completing tanker product transfers (loading/unloading) and related documentation in a regulated environment.
- Pre‑employment screening is based on the job requirements and industry guidelines and may or may not be required for the position. If required, selected candidates must pass pre‑employment screenings, which may include all or a combination of drug, criminal, motor vehicle check, physical requirements, and FMCSA Clearinghouse.
- Lift/carry up to 50 lbs. and safely climb to the top of a tanker trailer.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions and in environments with regular exposure to hazardous materials.
CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending on the position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
