Position: Speech Language Pathologist (2026/27)

REPORTS TO:

Director of Special Services and Principal

HOURS IN DUTY DAYS EXCLUDING LUNCH: 7.25

WORK DAY:
Monday – Friday

CONTRACT DAYS WORKED: 9 months

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/

SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Master’s degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited college or university
  • Valid Missouri license as a speech-language pathologist granted by the State of Missouri

OR

  • Certification from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
ESSENTIAL

JOB DUTIES:
  • Student screenings for determination of speech and/or language evaluation need;
  • Speech or language evaluations and interpretations of test results;
  • Determining appropriate goals for students given input from Individualized Education Plans “IEP” team;
  • Administration of proposed treatment;
  • Maintenance of progress notes for determination tracking, reporting or billing purposes;
  • To provide outreach to children/families to access MOHealth

    Net services.
  • To facilitate application to MOHealth

    Net services.
  • Attending meetings regarding students served and providing current performance levels;
  • All services shall be provided in accordance with any applicable guidelines, rules and regulations of the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education; and in accordance with any other applicable laws, rules and regulations; including, but not limited to, the State Plan for Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act; all as interpreted by the Director of Special Services as required pursuant to student Individualized Education Plans (IEP’s);
  • Participate in the review and development of IEP’s as necessary;
  • Hearing screenings as needed;
  • Counsel and involve parents in the remedial process;
  • Collaborate with teachers to plan and implement classroom-based activities to improve oral and written language skills of students;
  • Provide staff development training in assigned schools to assist school personnel in the identification and understanding of students with communication deficits;
  • Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance that complies with District policies and rules;
  • Demonstrate effective and positive interpersonal relationships with staff, students, and the community and the ability to work as a productive and solid member of the school district team.
  • Must be able to collaborate with peers, possess a positive attitude and be flexible with change.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Other duties as assigned. This does not preclude the assignment of additional or supplemental duties. The District reserves the right to modify the assignment as needed to reflect such duties.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:
  • Regular district-wide travel with moderate lifting and carrying;
  • Duties performed typically in district settings to include the cafeteria, gym, recreational areas and other assigned areas.
  • Physical demands can include but are not limited to:
    Exerts up to 40 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects including equipment such as audio-visual.
  • Frequent walking, standing, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and other limited physical activities are required.
  • Mental demands can include but are not limited to:
    Comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, and synthesizing.
  • Frequent movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required.
