Description

This is a full-time, 11-month contract position beginning August 1 in the Early Childhood Education program. Primary duties include course instruction in both face‑to‑face and virtual formats, field‑experience supervision, and travel to student field sites and other MACC locations.

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Early Care and Education, or a related field (e.g., M.S. in Developmental Psychology) with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in early childhood education and development.
  • At least three (3) years of experience working with children birth to five years of age in group settings.
  • Availability to teach at two campuses and travel throughout northeast Missouri for additional responsibilities.
  • Flexibility to teach evening classes and complete lab supervision visits according to student schedules.
  • Sound computer proficiency required; distance‑education teaching experience preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Teach 15 credit hours of Early Childhood Education courses and supervise one field placement each semester.
  • Lead collaboration with adjunct instructors teaching the same classes.
  • Review and revise common syllabi for courses based on feedback from instructors, students, and the ECE Director.
  • Assist with course revisions, including rubric development, assessment design, textbook, and resource selection.
  • Coordinate, supervise, assess, and revise field experiences, including establishing community partnership sites.
  • Conduct first‑semester CDA practice observations.
  • Assist in writing and revising program‑related handbooks.
  • Advise ECE students for field placement.
  • Assist in selection or development of CDA‑equivalent competency assessments.
  • Maintain portions of the ECE Department Canvas page.
  • Participate in the ECE Advisory Committee.
  • Attend Early Childhood meetings as assigned.
  • Co‑facilitate orientation meetings for cooperating teachers and directors at field experience sites.
  • Co‑facilitate orientation meetings for students before their first field experience.
  • Submit course grade reports at semester end for assessment data.
  • Review students’ Professional Portfolios and validate essential skills.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Early Childhood Education, the Dean of Workforce Development and Technical Education, or by the President.
  • Teach classes assigned by administration across day, evening, dual credit, distance education, or campus locations.
  • Provide effective instruction with active learning activities and timely feedback.
  • Develop curriculum, materials, lectures, labs, and update regularly.
  • Select required resources, collaborate with faculty, and submit information to dean’s office.
  • Provide students with a syllabus aligned with the common syllabus, including learning outcomes, assignments, and evaluation methods.
  • Participate in program assessment plan development/revision.
  • Maintain at least ten office hours per week at assigned instructional sites; provide virtual hours as approved.
  • Keep accurate course records and submit required records on time.
  • Follow college‑wide attendance policy and remove non‑attending students promptly.
  • Refer at‑risk students to support resources and interventions.
  • Submit annual budget requests for instructional supplies, equipment, travel, and expenditures.
  • Attend all faculty meetings; be available on campus or virtually each college day.
  • Assist and mentor new or adjunct faculty.
  • Participate in committee assignments or leadership opportunities at local, regional, or state level.
  • Serve as sponsor of student clubs and organizations as directed.
  • Promote the College through community activities and organizations.
  • Support student recruitment, registration, and orientation functions as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and administrators to achieve shared goals and strategic priorities.
  • Participate in commencement activities in academic attire unless excused.
  • Participate in professional growth activities; stay current in discipline, teaching methodologies, and industry standards.
  • Demonstrate self‑reflection and growth through faculty evaluation, including teaching portfolio, student evaluations, observations, and conferences.
  • Submit updated/current college transcripts to HR Office showing all degrees earned.
  • Carry out policies of the Board of Trustees as interpreted by administration.
