The position of Product Design Engineer is a central contributor in technical activities for growth. The Product Design Engineer for assigned product category will work extensively with Product E Engineering and Product Development team to ensure an accurate and timely transfer of technical and product knowledge to a broad audience.
Preferred Educational
Experience:
B.S., M.E., E.E. or equivalent technical experience preferred.
Preferred
Work Experience:
7-10 years' experience in a commercial equipment / vehicle environment, Previous work experience in Heavy Manufacturing/Transportation/Automotive industries a plus.
Essential Functions:
- Ability to perform all safety critical functions. The product must be built to the designated specs approved and cannot be deviated or substituted. The control, performance and tolerance are essential for the part to function so that it does not jeopardize public safety or it's compliance with government regulations.
- Must be able to recognize and call the critical characteristic symbols as listed on the blueprints.
- Compiles Product Manuals and Technical Data Sheets for all current and evolved products.
- Compiles and updates current and evolved product specifications.
- Writes product DVP test plans in line with product specifications and maintains test reports.
- Assists Technical Sales Engineers in product selection/application and preliminary prints.
- Completes and improves product designs for evolved products, as required.
- Support Product Management on product rationalization activities.
- Identifies and leads internal VA/VE initiatives related to current product design and processes.
- Develop product training modules for knowledge sharing and learning.
- Completes and maintains DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis) for current and evolved products.

- Essential Functions:
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Must be able to develop effective working relationships with other people and lead cross-functional teams.
- Presentation skills. Advanced skills in all Microsoft Office applications.
