Scope of PositionThe maintenance manager is responsible for directing plant maintenance activities. During the startup of the new facility, they will be a part of a team responsible for equipment selection/placement, training, and hiring of the maintenance workforce. After the plant startup, the goal will be to provide direction to the maintenance team in maintenance of production equipment in a manner that ensures employee safety, product safety, and quality and compliance to production schedules.
This position will also manage all maintenance costs for the plant.
- Overall owner of maintenance KPI’s
- Coordinate s the development of RCA’s and a ction plans to solve problems and make improvements
- Assist the Business Development & Engineering team in establishing and executing capital budgets
- Ensure t eam member safety through training and completion/tracking of safety work orders
- Ensure f ood s afety & q uality as it relates to p lant maintenance activities and programs
- Responsible for p lant s chedule attainment as it relates to p lant main tenance activities and programs
- Deliver cost KPI’s including MRO inventory & plant maintenance c osts
- Oversee measurement, tracking and planning for safety, quality, repair and preventative maintenance programs
- Set the maintenance culture for the plant and uphold Swift values
- Work closely with the p lant manager and m aintenance d irector
- Monitor and analyze maintenance down time to improve production up time as efficiently as possible
- Manage, develop and maintain programs for hiring, training & professional developme nt for the m aintenance team
- Manage, develop and maintain vendor support to ensure th e most cost-effective solutions
- Make recommendations to the leadership team to i mprove the maintenance function
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in engineering, or equivalent combinati on of education and experience
- 5+ years maintenance experience with a consum er-packaged goods food plant
- 3+ years of maintenance management experience
- Experience with repair and maintenance of food manufacturing equipment, spec ifically sliced meat processing
- Experience with a mmonia refrige ration systems and PSM programs
- PC / software skills including CAD.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle/feel items, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and talk or hear.
- Office and plant setting: the plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold (non-weather related), and working near moving mechanical parts
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud when in the production area.
