Title: Staff Accountant
Reports to: Controller

SummaryPrepare and maintain financial records to track organization assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities and other related financial activities.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Ensure adherence to the accounting/finance/payroll department quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures.
- Communicate from time to time with other departments and/or divisions of the Company in support of their overall goals and objectives.
- Respond to inquiries and provide data analysis as requested from a multitude of departments.
- Participate and support accounting close cycles including reconciliations and ad hoc analysis.
- Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
- Develop, maintain, and analyze budgets, preparing periodic reports that compare to budgeted costs to actual costs.
- Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts; manages accounts receivable collections. Support internal and external audit procedures and practices.
- Work with Purchasing department to ensure accuracy in posting dates and codes.
- Manage fixed assets including accumulation of cost for CAPEX projects and monthly depreciation.
- Oversee special projects from time to time as directed by the Controller and or the Chief Financial Officer.
- Assist in maintaining and monitoring the systems of controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes, and data.
- File tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
- Coordinate with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems; recommend updates to enhance the accounting software.
- Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Attributes- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Ability to correctly prepare tax reports.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software.
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance with 2+ years related experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Most work performed in office environment.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 15 lbs infrequently.
- May have to climb stairs and ladders.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
