The University of South Alabama’s Academic Affairs Office is seeking to hire an Accountant II.
Essential Functions- Performs various accounting functions for the Office of Academic Affairs.
- Serves as the contact person for general accounting questions for units reporting to the Division of Academic Affairs.
- Maintains financial records of assigned activities.
- Reviews personnel paperwork for accuracy to include EPAFs and PAs and works with departments to correct any errors.
- Runs processes and reports in Banner related to paying part-time faculty ( FLAC ) and communicates with colleges to correct errors.
- Reviews and approves requests for changes to the chart of accounts for the Division of Academic Affairs.
- Assists in monitoring departmental emails daily to distribute, follow-up, and ensure that documents are processed timely and correctly.
- Reviews transfer requests.
- Reviews payments and transactions in Concur Payment System.
- Prepares routine and special journal entries as needed.
- Assists in financial analysis as directed by management including pulling data and preparing summaries from appropriate reporting systems, as well as balancing and reconciliation.
- Reconciles monthly department transactions.
- Periodically provides training to support staff in units reporting to the Division of Academic Affairs.
- Assists with maintaining and closing out departmental budgets.
- Meet with financial support staff as needed.
- Communicates in person, on the phone, and by email.
- Regular and prompt attendance.
- Ability to work schedule as defined and additional hours as required.
- Related duties as required.
