Position Overview
Performs clerical duties for the shipping department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Process inter‑company stock orders by updating AS400 order information and printing pick lists.
- Process customer orders by changing orders in AS400 from acknowledged status to ship status; printing pick lists; attaching pick lists to shop order and distributing documentation to packer work stations.
- Confirm freight information by writing freight codes and charges on shop orders received from packers and generate bills of lading from AS400 system.
- Prepare export documents using personal computer.
- Print Shipping Department closing reports from AS400 and personal computer.
- Assist Sales Department with freight quotes.
- Other duties may be assigned.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Qualifications- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning ability: apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Computer skills: basic personal computer skills, MS Windows; operates AS400 terminal.
- Other skills and abilities: regular attendance; ability to work as part of a team, including all related departments/plants or independently as required to achieve internal and external customer satisfaction; operates fax and copy machines.
- Physical demands: regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; walking, standing, etc.
- Travel requirements: occasional travel requested (less than 10%).
