Mobile, AL: Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a skilled Laboratory Receptionist to support daily laboratory operations through administrative coordination, client communication, billing support, and laboratory clerical assistance.
Essential Duties- Organize and prepare laboratory requisition forms.
- Receive, distribute, and process incoming and outgoing mail.
- Perform general office duties including faxing, copying, scanning, printing, and email correspondence.
- Create laboratory orders using client-provided information.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient charts and records.
- Enter patient and clinical information into the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
- Distribute final laboratory reports to appropriate parties.
- Enter billing and coding information using established reference materials.
- Retrieve patient demographic information from hospital systems as needed.
- Answer, transfer, and document phone calls and messages professionally.
- Serve as a liaison between clients, laboratory staff, and pathologists.
- Sort, organize, file, and retrieve laboratory blocks and slides.
- Maintain courier logs and shipment tracking documentation.
- Coordinate special stain and immunohistochemistry (IHC) orders with laboratory personnel.
- Log, track, and ship oncology specimens.
- Cross-train to assist with laboratory receiving duties.
- Maintain clean, organized work spaces and common areas.
- Monitor and replenish office and break room supplies.
- Unpack and store non-laboratory supplies as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a receptionist, clerical, medical office, transcription, billing, or laboratory support role preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and accuracy in patient-related documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional demeanor with strong customer service skills.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to use standard office equipment including computers, phones, printers, and scanners.
- Ability to lift and move office supplies and laboratory materials up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist movements associated with typing and filing.
- Ability to walk throughout laboratory and office areas as needed.
