Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Project Buyer (Contract) to join our North America General Procurement (GP) organization based in Mobile, AL. This role focuses on maintaining full visibility of contractual data, spend data, and the schedule of ongoing tendering projects to support the activities of General Procurement in North America. The Project Buyer supports senior category buyers who manage multi‑functional teams, drives tendering project schedules, and escalates risks to achieve schedule and savings targets.
The position also facilitates the transition from tendering projects to operational ordering with buyers and internal customers.
- Facilitate general procurement transactions to meet business needs and provide internal customers with goods and services in compliance with General Procurement procedures and guidelines.
- Ensure full compliance of contract storage and data availability in applicable tools (SAP, Click & Source, Click n Buy) for Category Buyers and for aligning operational ordering with contract scope.
- Establish and maintain regular two‑way communication with key functional and local customers; manage integration with assigned General Procurement commodities in North America and worldwide.
- Prepare spend data analysis for tendering projects, contract amendment negotiations, and MFT preparation.
- Perform “Local for Local” procurement activities aligned with the MFT strategy, based on GP terms and regulations.
- Support “Global for Local” procurement activities to provide local insight and support to global and other regional buyers leading sourcing projects.
- Contribute to Airbus Group’s Savings Programs through requirement harmonisation/standardisation, specification challenges, volume aggregation, and demand control.
- Escalate blockages to the Director or Regional Director as needed.
- Provide leadership and coaching to less experienced team members.
- Collaborate with the Director to set realistic, achievable goals for the team based on suggested methods and operational improvements.
- Drive compliance with Airbus General Procurement and related processes through robust communication with internal customers.
- Resolve procurement process blockages and recommend solutions to operational and contractual problems.
- Report savings to the Shared Services organization in a timely manner through standard mechanisms.
- Develop collaborative relationships with various functions to incorporate quality feedback into supplier contact and negotiations.
- Maintain cooperative relationships and engage with suppliers in strategic and transactional activities to improve vendor relationships and increase customer satisfaction.

Job Requirements
- Five or more years of procurement experience with increasing authority and accountability.
- Project management skills.
- Knowledge of finance, operations, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated effectiveness as a participant and leader on a team focused on work.
- Experience in a manufacturing or quality‑focused manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Project Management, Purchasing, or Supply Chain certifications are desirable.
- Fluency in English. Fluency in French, German, or Spanish is highly desirable.
