Airbus is an international pioneer in the aerospace industry, designing, manufacturing, and delivering aerospace products, services, and solutions worldwide. We seek a Director of Ethics & Compliance (E&C) to lead the E&C function at our Mobile Manufacturing Site (MMS) in the Gulf Coast Region of Alabama. The role is highly visible, acting as the on‑site E&C leader, and reporting directly to the North American Head of E&C in Metro‑DC.

This position will integrate E&C into daily manufacturing operations, drive awareness of Airbus values, and support the rapid expansion of the facility.

Primary Responsibilities Leadership & Culture
  • Lead the cultural integration of ethics and compliance at the MMS, ensuring a respected, approachable E&C presence.
  • Demonstrate an authentic and positive mindset, good judgment, and confidence to encourage approachability and build trust.
  • Integrate into the MMS Senior Leadership Team, adding value to the Site Head and his/her direct reports.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 5 volunteer ECRs and support the regional ECR network.
  • Act as an E&C role model, spokesperson, and liaison to employees and stakeholders across Airbus.
Risk & Investigations
  • Proactively analyze site‑specific compliance risks, develop actionable mitigation strategies, and advise the Site Head and SLT.
  • Lead internal investigations of alleged compliance violations in partnership with HR, Legal, and other functions.
  • Evaluate evidence critically, remaining open to reconsideration if required.
  • Assist with litigation matters, including issuance of holds and responses to subpoenas.
  • Guide professionals on Internal Control Self‑Assessments and serve as focal point for audits and subsidiary Fit‑Checks.
Program Management
  • Oversee and make timely decisions on the E&C compliance program, including due diligence for third‑party engagements.
  • Respond promptly to stakeholder requests, including leadership, GLO, compliance committees, and auditors.
  • Define, track, and report on key E&C metrics and work streams, improving reporting clarity.
  • Ensure alignment with Airbus directives and processes.
  • Become proficient with Airbus electronic tools and process flow management to support decisions and training.
  • Contribute to the North American One Roof team’s objectives by completing tasks, meeting deadlines, and achieving results.
Qualified Experience / Skills / Training Education
  • Bachelor's degree from a US accredited university (or equivalent).
  • Law degree (Juris Doctor) or equivalent legal training preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive professional experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial enterprise.
  • At least 3 years in a dedicated compliance leadership role in a fast‑paced manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
  • Demonstrable experience implementing processes and controls in E&C, export control, regulatory, quality, finance, audit, corporate or related discipline.
Licensure / Certifications
  • Professional certification such as CCEP or paralegal certificate is welcomed but not mandatory.
