Marine Surveyor / Senior Marine Surveyor

What We’re Looking ForThe Senior Marine Surveyor is responsible for conducting comprehensive surveys and inspections of vessels, including new construction projects and existing ships, to ensure compliance with international standards, classification society rules and regulatory requirements. This role involves technical skills, project oversight and collaboration with shipyards, owners and regulatory bodies to maintain safety, quality and operational integrity.

The role- Monitor and inspect shipbuilding processes, including hull fabrication, machinery installation and outfitting.
- Review and approve construction procedures and specifications for compliance with classification and statutory requirements.
- Conduct progressive inspections during construction phases and attend sea trials.
- Perform condition assessments, damage surveys and compliance inspections on in‑service vessels.
- Evaluate structural integrity, machinery performance and safety systems.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and recommend corrective actions or repairs.
- Ensure adherence to IMO conventions, flag state regulations and classification society standards.
- Liaise with shipowners, operators and regulatory authorities to resolve compliance issues.
- Provide specialised guidance on marine engineering, hull structures and safety systems.
- Support risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering or a related field.
- Extensive professional experience in marine surveying, including new construction and operational vessels.
- Customer‑experience‑focused mindset.
- In‑depth knowledge of international maritime regulations and classification society rules.
- Well‑developed analytical, problem‑solving and reporting skills.
- Solid communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Is keen to take accountability and ownership for delivering customer needs.
- Is able to self‑manage and prioritize tasks towards reaching goals.
- Is effective at solving problems, trouble‑shooting and making timely decisions.
- Is ready and eager to take initiatives.
- Communicates in a structured way and has ability to present technical ideas in user‑friendly language.
