Why Intern with WKRG-TV / in Mobile, AL?
- You will learn by observing and working with WKRG's Studio Production and Content Creation Teams.
- You will gain experience in the production of live and pre‑recorded programs and segments for broadcast, OTT, website, apps, and social media.
- Particular focus is placed on competency and confidence in the use of the Ross Overdrive automated production system and Open Broadcast System (OBS) live streaming technology.
- You will enhance your visual communication skills by designing and creating graphics.
- You will strengthen your editing skills as you cut video with Adobe Premiere Pro.
- You will have a blast in your free time, enjoying the Gulf Coast’s beaches, attractions, and activities.
- Your internship experience could significantly strengthen your candidacy for full‑time positions upon graduation.
- All internships are in‑person and located at WKRG’s main broadcast & digital studios in Mobile, Alabama.
- Internships are supervised by a station supervisor who evaluates attendance and performance.
- Internships are unpaid.
- Students who must earn academic credit will receive priority consideration; they must complete any necessary credit forms.
- The intern is responsible for their transportation.
- Broaden understanding and mastery of television, digital, and social media production skills.
- Increase confidence in collaborating with content creators and technical staff to achieve shared goals.
- Improve technical and creative craft skills applicable to your course of study and intended career.
- Depart the experience with professional work samples for use in your portfolio.
- Develop contacts in the industry to facilitate mentoring and career connections.
- Video Production – Basic working understanding of cameras, audio, switchers, graphics, etc.
- Video Editing – Basics of a timeline‑based editing program like Adobe Premiere or Final Cut Pro.
- Meeting Deadlines – Ability to participate nimbly and flexibly in a fast‑paced environment with changing assignments.
