Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in theater or a related field from an accredited institution as approved and accredited by the University of South Alabama and two years of theater scenery construction and operations experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Must possess an understanding of set and lighting design and drafting of scenery which requires the use of various hand tools.

Job Description Summary
- The University of South Alabama's department of Theater and Dance is seeking to hire a Scene Shop Specialist. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.

Essential Functions These are the job duties required of the position.

Essential Functions
- Serves as Technical Director for assigned productions. Plans, coordinates, designs and supervises the technical production elements for TheatreUSA productions. Designs scenery, lighting, and/or sound as needed. Supervises and mentors student designers, technicians, and shop workers in accordance with the Department of Drama and Theatre Arts technical theatre curriculum. Assists in the design, construction, installation, operation, and strike of production elements.

Manages production workloads to ensure successful completion within the department's six-week production schedule. Maintains production budgets. Maintains inventories and orders materials, equipment, and supplies. Ensures compliance with university and industry safety standards within all theatre and shop spaces. Coordinates production activities with faculty, staff, guest artists, and student crews. Maintains production documentation. Performing other production duties as assigned by the Department Chair or supervisor.

Regular and prompt attendance. Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime hours as required. Related duties as required.
