Overview
Base pay range: $15.50/hr - $16.00/hr
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a Dental Assistant II to provide support in various dental procedures. Responsibilities include maintaining surgery rooms and equipment, taking and processing radiographs, dispensing supplies, sterilizing and cleaning all surgical instruments, disposing of infectious waste according to established procedures, processing and mounting film, and breaking down and cleaning equipment with replenished solutions. The role also includes clerical and administrative duties in support of the department, such as answering phones, taking messages, making appointments, and handling payment for procedures.
This position serves patients across age ranges from newborn to geriatric.
- Maintain surgery rooms and equipment
- Take and process radiographs of patients; process and mount film
- Dispense supplies; sterilize and clean surgical instruments and dental assist units
- Dispose of infectious waste according to established procedures
- Break down and clean equipment; replenish solutions as required
- Perform clerical and administrative duties: answer phones, take messages, make appointments, explain procedures, and receive payment
- Respond to the needs of patients from newborn to geriatric
- Graduate from an accredited Dental Assistant Program required; work experience may substitute for education
