Naph Care is hiring a Dental Assistant to join our team of medical professionals in the Staton Correctional Facility located in Elmore, AL.

Pay rates vary by shift, site needs, hire status and experience. A full‑time position may be available.

As a Correctional Dental Assistant, you will work alongside correctional officers and other dental professionals to provide dental care to incarcerated individuals. Working in a controlled, security‑focused environment, you will have a variety of duties to keep you engaged and make a meaningful difference to a diverse patient population with complex medical and dental needs.

As a Dental Assistant, your responsibilities include preparing patients for procedures, assisting during treatments, and maintaining patient records while protecting the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Duties may include:

• Coordinating dental services and assisting the Dentist with patient care, instruments, supplies, documentation and supporting the function of the dental department.
• Assisting Dentist during treatment by providing instruments, materials, retraction or suction.
• Ensuring all dental equipment is properly maintained, in good working order, and that the dental suite is clean and well‑stocked.
• Sterilizing and disinfecting equipment and tools.
• Assisting in triage, dental sick‑call requests, scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and performing other administrative tasks.
• Explaining dental procedures and oral hygiene practices to patients.
• Taking and developing x‑rays, and assisting with dental laboratory functions.

Must be able to stand for long periods, lift and move patients up to 50 lbs, bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks such as CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout the shift.

• Completion of a one or two‑year dental assistant program at a vocational school or community college.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Active BLS CPR certification (American Heart Association required).
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information.
• Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues.
• Integrity, professionalism, and adherence to a Code of Conduct and facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
• Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening.
