- Obtain comprehensive and focused patient histories and perform appropriate physical examinations.
- Evaluate new and established oncology and hematology patients in collaboration with the supervising physician.
- Develop and implement evidence-based plans of care in collaborating with the attending oncologist.
- Provide routine follow up care for patients receiving active cancer treatment.
- Provide surveillance and survivorship visits for appropriate patient populations.
- Order and interpret laboratory studies, diagnostic imaging, and other diagnostic testing within approved scope and privileges.
- Review pathology, imaging, molecular/genomic testing, and other clinical findings relevant to the patient's cancer diagnosis and treatment.
- Communicate signficant findings to the attending physician and multidisciplinary care team.
- Coordinates consultations and referrals to appropriate specialists and supportive services.
- Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
- Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
- Regular and prompt attendance
- Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
- Related duties as assigned
Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
Qualifications- Completion of an accredited physician assistant training program Required
- PA
- Physician Assistant
- Licensure with the state of Alabama to practice as a Physician Assistant within 60 Days Required - Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements.
