The Clinical Coordinator plans, coordinates, and conducts clinical experiences for nursing students. The Coordinator oversees the operation of the nursing division including development, preparation, curricular revision, communication among students, and problem solving. The Coordinator collaborates with faculty to include course development, policies, course objectives, program outcomes, and ensuring optimal learning experiences for students in the clinical setting.
Responsibilities- Develops, prepares, and manages the clinical placement rotations and apprenticeship opportunities for the nursing program.
- Collaborates with nursing faculty to secure appropriate clinical groups.
- Attends meetings, presents agenda items relevant to clinical placement, schedule, and compliance requirements.
- Creates, processes, and monitors student clinical records.
- Collects and tracks academic, immunization, health insurance, background, training, and other necessary verification.
- Trains students and faculty on proper means of submitting information (Clin Prep).
- Verifies that faculty and students have completed necessary immunizations and site‑specific training for clinical placements.
- Shares records with work‑based learning sites.
- Completes annual placement grids based on department needs and alignment of student learning outcomes.
- Tracks and matches clinical practice experience, settings, and specific patient encounters as indicated by department policy, law, and/or accreditation standards.
- Utilizes Exxat efficiently.
- Maintains an up‑to‑date list of approved clinical affiliation agreements.
- Maintains up‑to‑date placement data for faculty on a regular basis.
- Ensures program compliance with the Alabama Board of Nursing, ACEN, and ACCS.
- Establishes clinical partnerships including writing agreements, collecting evaluations, distributing and gathering survey data, processing information, and developing formats for data to be easily interpreted and understood.
- Assists with the nursing program accreditation reviews, self‑study element, and compliance and accreditation.
- Utilizes secured online document management, learning, and ce1tification system to verify student criteria for clinical placement.
- Complies with all HIPAA and FERPA requirements for managing and maintaining confidential student records for clinical placement.
- Participates in program and curriculum reviews.
- Participates in nursing department meetings.
- Maintains office hours.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Collaborates effectively with faculty.
- Communicates effectively with all faculty, administrative staff, and technical support staff.
- Networks with other educators at local/state/national level to develop and utilize best practices.
- Prepares and submits instructional records, reports, grades, and all other required paperwork in a timely, efficient manner meeting all deadlines, checking for accuracy, correctness, and completeness of all data.
- Exerts an effort to remain current in discipline and instructional methods through professional development activities.
- Demonstrated expertise in the subject area.
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use internet, email and computer software.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Documented expertise in the use of current educational technologies in the classroom including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software and willingness to develop.
- Understanding of the broad range of students’ abilities in an open admissions college and the ability to accommodate varied learning styles.
- Ability to deal effectively with diverse students, other employees, and the public.
- Commitment to all students, including those of diverse ages, cultures, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy and mission of the Alabama Community College System (ACCS).
