Position: Special Education Evaluator (10 Month)

TITLE: Evaluator of Special Needs Student sand Developer of  Individualized Plans

JOB GOAL: Toselect,administer,scoreandinterprettestinordertodevelop individualized plans for students with special needs.

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

REPORTS TO: Special Education&504

Coordinators, Pre-Kand Special Education Pre-K Directors

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1. Possess and maintain a valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate in special education and/or collaborative education.
  • 2. Knowledge of curriculum development, effective classroom practices, and professional development.
  • 3. Knowledge of current tests used for educational evaluation practices.
  • 4. Knowledge and experience administering tests and developing individualized plans for students based on information gained from the evaluations.
  • 5. Good public relations skills.
  • 6. Ability to understand the unique needs and learning characteristics of students.
  • 7. Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. .
  • 8. Knowledge of and ability to use and facilitate the use of various forms of education technology and assist in instructional practices.
  • 9. Possess superior leadership, collaboration, and interpersonal skills and ability to be an instructional leader across multiple settings.
  • 10. Ability to work collaboratively as a team member with large and/or diverse groups.
  • 11. Physical strength, mobility, dexterity, stamina, and acuity to perform job responsibilities.
  • 12. Proficiency in oral, written, and electronic communications with the ability to produce, lead, and deliver presentations to various stakeholders.
  • 13. Ability to use technology to communicate, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information.
  • 14. Ability to collaborate and communicate with administrators, teachers, parents, and other school system staff to implement of IEPs for designated students.
  • 15. Ability to be punctual and regular attendance.
  • 16. Such alternatives to above qualifications as the Board may require.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • 1. Demonstrates support for the school system, its purpose, direction, and priorities.
  • 2. Demonstrates the ability to multi-task, to delegate appropriately, and to prioritize tasks efficiently.
  • 3. Maintains confidentiality of any Board of Education business, its staff, and its students.
  • 4. Demonstrates knowledge and ability to administer test following proper protocols for educational evaluations.
  • 5. Demonstrates professionalism in appearance and attitude at all times.
  • 6. Demonstrates and models regular and predictable attendance.
  • 7. Maintains knowledge on current methods and trends related to educational assessments.
  • 8. Uses technology for communication, presentations, research, data analysis, budgeting, recordkeeping, reporting, scheduling, and other job responsibilities as required.
  • 9. Implements curriculum and programming specific to the needs of all students.
  • 10. Administers appropriate test to determine deficiencies and needs of students.
  • 11. Develops and implements an individualized education plan (IEP) that meets the individual goals and abilities of students and is consistent with federal, state, and local IDEA guidelines.
  • 12. Participates in IEP, 504, and/or PST meetings as required.
  • 13. Communicates with the Special Education Coordinator and staff involving all matters related to purchasing of supplies and equipment needed.
  • 14. Maintains up-to-date data related to timelines of initial referrals and reevaluations.
  • 15. Coordinates the referral, evaluation, and identification, and placement of PreK students under IDEA guidelines.
  • 16. Assists schools with the transition of PreK students to Kindergarten.
  • 17. Assists Elementary Curriculum Coordinator, Special Education Coordinator and Special Education Pre-K Director with Child Find for children 3-5 years old.
  • 18. Assists families of children with disabilities of ages 3-5 to assess needed services.
  • 19. Help manage PreK special education/504 files.
  • 20. Knowledgeable of special education processes such as eligibility, IEP, FBA, BIP, Alabama Development Standards for PreK students, etc.
  • 21. Actively participates and works with school personnel and other IEP team members in the selection of curriculum goals, specialized equipment, and other instructional materials, to provide the student with maximum learning opportunities.
  • 22. Utilizes current testing materials, techniques, and provides data to assist case managers in completing paperwork to determine eligibility and/or educational needs.
  • 23. Collaborates with the Special Education Coordinator and staff to select appropriate assessments.
  • 24. Assists students with disabilities to gain their full potential.
  • 25. Interprets and disseminates assessment results to parent and various stakeholders.
  • 26. Follows rules, guidelines, and procedures of Section 504 and IDEA amendments.
